Location of Dubai

Location of Dubai Dubai is the capital city and the second largest among the seven emirates that collectively make-up the entire United Arab Emirates (UAE). Dubai is located on the coastal bed of Persian Gulf, resting between Sharjah and Abu Dhabi (refer to the Dubai map). The emirate of Dubai has Abu Dhabi at its south, Sharjah in the north-east and Oman in the south-east. Dubai Creek, running from northeast to the southwest, divides the city into the Deira district (north) and Bur Dubai (south).

Area of Dubai

The total area of Dubai city is around 3885 sq. km. that makes it large enough to be the second largest emirate of UAE after Abu Dhabi. The main geographical pattern of Dubai is highlighted by sandy deserts as the city lies directly within the Arabian Desert. Although there is the lack of water bodies in Dubai but it has a natural inlet called Dubai Creek that also divides the emirate into north and southern part. Dubai mainly has largely desert covered area but this sandy beauty is also marked by wild grass, date palm trees, acacia, desert hyacinths which are mainly found in the plains of the city.

Dubai Climate

The climate of Dubai is defined as hot, humid and rough. Being a desert area at large and low on high altitude areas, Dubai remains irregular in rains and the weather remains hot during most of the months in a year specially from November to March. The recorded high temperature remains between 35 �C to 40 �C and the rainfall is recorded higher at 20-25 mm in the months of January to March.

Dubai Coast Line The emirate of Dubai, situated at the southern coast of Persian Gulf, has 700 kilometers long coastline around it of which 100 kilometers are on the Gulf of Oman. Dubai's geographical location ranks it as an important port and a centre of all major commercial activities of UAE and the Middle East as well. Dubai has such a unique location at the Middle east that not only makes it a key transit point of the major sea routes towards Africa and South Asia but also a main stop over point for flights to & fro Asian and European countries.
